Song Jing's projects are dedicated to exploring the poles of collective and individual, as well as a range of themes that include quality of time, consciousness, physicality, and emotions. To this end, the artist develops a psycho-archaeological method that assumes that emotions not only influence human experience and behavior, but also “animate” images and objects. The works that result from the fusion of projected emotions with the artist's chosen subjects are subtle, material manifestations of inner emotional landscapes; sensual, yet humorous narrative and a self-conscious mantra against speechlessness, shame, and the absent.
